Pre-Production

Simon Pegg and director Edgar Wright spent a total of 18 months producing the script in which the first draft was developed after the first 8 months. The rest of the months were spent conducting interviews and watching cop-related films; although Pegg's best mate (and best man), Nick Frost was not involved in the scriptwriting process, Pegg and Wright did keep him informed, thus Frost was able to make key contributions. Frost reveals: "Simon and Edgar are quite happy for me to come in with suggestions. I came up with the name Danny Butterman. I said I would only do the movie if I could call him Danny Butterman. It was a name I'd been thinking of; I wrote it down a while ago. It has a nice Hobbit feel to it."

Production

After the location of where the film would be produced was decided, they then started the filming of the movie Hot Fuzz on March 19th 2006. They had an 11day shooting schedule, within their chosen areas one of them being London for the beginning scene of the movie, at some point the shooting of the movie had been delayed due to foul weather within their desired area. During the shooting of the movie there were mutilple situations where Simon and Frost had been mistaken for actual police officers - which also helped to advertise the movie since this helped to gain attention from the public, due to how realistic the production was.

Post-Production

Soon after the shooting of the movie was over, Wright and Frost thejn promoted their movie at Comic-Con, in 2006, San Diego, this is also where they were able sell merch. Whilst releasing their trailer they had also done an presentation to an live audience, doing a fan meet and greet - this was done at both Comic-Con San Deigo and th Excel Comic Convection in London.
