Market Position
Working title is one of the world's leading film industries, they have made over 100 films that have grossed over $6 billion worldwide.
Universal studios (The parent company to Working title) is part of the ‘Big Eight’ when it comes to international film studios. This is judged mainly on the size and value on each of these companies being:
-
20th Century Fox
-
Walt Disney Studios
-
Paramount Pictures
-
Sony Pictures
-
Warner Bros.
-
Universal studios
As explained at the start in the structure of Working Title’s wider parent and overall umbrella company, all these other big production studios are connected to bigger and smaller companies across their networks. Linking this back to competition, when you look at all the production companies, not considering which ones are connected and part of the same corporations, it looks like there are a wide range of different companies facing competition. This is not so true because once broken down it only really comes down to these ‘Big Eight’ film studios.
Working Title since 1984 has been a small company within the industry, with the totak of 42 staff members within the Uk and 5 in L.A. Here it shows that the working force was kept to an minimal.
